But Miss Mapp's married life must have been more active - I think she and Major Benjy may actually have shared a room - and doesn't she start knitting baby clothes at some point?...


They actually discuss the ban on pecks, let alone anything else, before they agree to marry - it's in Lucia's Progress. Elizabeth Mapp feigns pregnancy, but she even pretends to Benjy, so it must have been possible.
