] ] ] So is the EB / Darcy match the impossible romantic dream, and Fanny / Edmund the possible ? Just a stray thought.
] To an extent... he's the possible dream but I think Fanny sets her sights too low. Anne, Lizzy, etc., may not have seen much of the world but they had a wider experience in many respects than Fanny and were better equipped to choose husbands. I always felt that Fanny married for gratitude, that her love was more rational than passionate.
I have to disagree also. Fanny has been in love with Edmund since she came to MP. She gradually came to recognise his faults -- but she still loved him in spite of them -- and ya know, that's what a real marriage is about. Loving someone even though they *do* have faults, and loving them in spite of or because of them.
