] Many people enjoy the depth and richness of Mansfield Park and I personally consider Fanny Price to be the most courageous of all JA's heroines...I believe that a few people who admire and like Fanny Price have learned to be shy of introducing the topic.
]What I do not understand is why people who do not like the book trouble themselves to read posts about it. I think this is because for many people the exchange of oppositional opinions is the essence of conversation--the joy and sparkle thereof. Like Fanny herself, however, I have known too much opposition all my life to find any charm in it.
I appreciate your comments. I'll admit I've shyed away from discussions
on MP. I don't enjoy conflict for conflict's sake.I, too, enjoy Mansfield Park's depth, and believe Fanny is JA's most
courageous heroine. As you and others know from our past conversations, I don't claim to be unbiased. I've admitted that my personality, family background and morals have many similarities to Fanny's. My personality
has been shaped by many of the same hardships that Fanny endured and I'm not ashamed of that fact. It has made me a stronger person. I've
"walked many miles in her shoes", so I see how accurate Jane's portrayal
is.Thanks, Lea :-)
