Back to the Librarythey were considered rakes? (by JA mind you, and their fellow characters).

Actually I was referring to Lise's statement "some of their vices seem so trivial in this age that it makes one wonder what is so shocking about it".

I agree that moral standards vary from time to time, but I believe that the faults JA saw in Wickham, Willoughby, etc, would still today be considered serious flaws by most people. At least I hope so!
