If the audience is interested in Latin American literature I would suggest to read works by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Borges, Cortazar, and Carlos Fuentes. One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in Time of Cholera are Marquez's best. However, if you prefer Isabel Allende's novels better, The House of the Spirits, Of Love and Shadow, Eva Luna, and The Infinite Plan are good choices. If you like Eva Luna, Tales of Eva Luna will be a great sequence to the former novel.
Note: Latin American literature has a unique voice in today's universal letters; it has separated totally from the Spanish literature traditionalism.
