] Personally, much as I love Damerel, Avon and Dominic, the three Heyer rakes, I'm sure that in real life I wouldn't want to marry one of them.
As they say of some tourist destinations: "Nice place for a holiday - wouldn't want to live there."
But isn't that the appeal of rakes in fiction - we can, as it were, have a holiday with them?
