After a first seduction...

In response to But isn't that the appeal of a Rake?, written by Caroline on May 10, 1998 at 09:57:32] How do you recognise a rake? How do you differentiate between someone who is really in love with you and someone who is merely feeding his own ego at your expense? Rakes get their reputation by preying on the innocent (snip)
the society would know about you by reputation. (Unless one wants to be a closet rake, but part of rakishness is society knowing your reputation)
Also, I never envisioned rake as a full-blown seducer. More of a very wild person who sleeps around quite a lot and has a lot of appeal to women etc.
Personally, much as I love Damerel, Avon and Dominic, the three Heyer rakes, I'm sure that in real life I wouldn't want to marry one of them.
