I think Constanza has it right. She doesn't say that her experience had led her to believe that all churches are meant to be quiet - she says that her READING had led her to to this belief about any building devoted to the act of worship.

I had missed this entirely Constanza, and it is very funny. She is going to make an interesting clergyman's wife indeed! I wonder if Charles really knows what he's in for!
