After reading of Charlotte Bronte's dislike of JA, I wonder if she doesn't owe her just the tiniest of salutes.
Charlotte Bronte doesn´t owe anything to Jane Austen, cause she terminantly refused to be influenced by her. Her editor told her to learn some lessons from JA, but I think she rebelled, cause they are so very different in style, if not in basic values (they do have something in common). And for my part I see no significant character resemblance between Jane and Fanny. Their situations are similar, though.
I´m glad Charlotte put her foot down on immitating Jane Austen. She`s a great author with her own merit.
