I think the only thing common to both is the fact that they are both orphans,thatīs about it, in my opinion. Janeīs a much more interesting character.

Yeah, I donīt think Jane has supressed anger or hatred. The way she goes back to take care of Aunt Reed shows that perfectly. The only thing she feels is sadness. The things she has indeed supressed are love (I agree), joy (because sheīs constantly afraid of disappointment) and, of course, intimacy and sensuality. She always talks of Reason as a tyranical entity, because it curbs every powerful feeling and leaves her limp and lonely. Jane doesn`t learn how to hate, she learns to live with it and get stronger. Thatīs why she is such an inspiring, wonderful character.
