In response to NA movie, written by Brigid on April 25, 1998 at 11:03:31
] I'd like to know if anyone else found the BBC Northanger Abbey excessively disappointing? I thought the Henry Tilney was cast entirely wrong, as was the Isabella Thorpe! If Isabella had been so repulsive in the book as she was in the movie, Catherine would have disliked her as much as Catherine disliked John!
I didn't like NA very much at first either.. it was so different from the other novels and I didn't understand the 'joke' as it were.. so I thought it was just a really badly done adaptation. But then I watched it again.. read some good comments about it on this board.. and then watched again.. and now I think it's just hilarious! I think I was dissapointed that it wasn't like P&P or S&S at first... but when I realized that it was supposed to be different, well I just now enjoy it for what it is :) ofcourse I'd love to see a newer adaptation though!! the more the merrier! :)
(sorry if this doesn't make much sense.. it's late here and I'm half asleep ;) just hope you give it another go and see the hilarious potential it has! ;))
