Back to the Library ] It's been so long, but isn't Viper a gargantuan horse? According to the book, he is 19 hands high. I seem to recall that 10 hands high is kind of regulation for a full-grown horse, so Viper is twice as big???? (I even tried to do a simulation on my wall.)

] Any horsewomen out there?

A hand is 4 inches high. The dividing line between a horse size and a pony size is fourteen and a half hands, or 58 inches -- at the withers, which is the little bump where the back and the neck connect.

19 hands is still pretty big.
