I may be mistaken, but I had learned that the "burg" and "mann" endings were German, as opposed to the Jewish "berg" and "man."
The "burg" and "mann" endings were typically used by non-Jewish Germans as opposed to German Jews or Jews from other parts of Eastern Europe.
