Perhaps she was referring to the fact that an intellectual Mr. Mybug was quite unusual, but a highbrow Jew (or a highbrow with a German-sounding surname) was more commonplace or Bloomsbury-like, and given Flora's opinion of that set, it is no wonder that she was somewhat downcast. Does it make sense?
