In response to when you SPOKE to him???, written by Kate on April 26, 1998 at 15:12:06] Hi Toril - great to see you here - from Norway? is that right?
] You SPOKE to Andrew Davies? Seriously??
] If you happen to be speaking again, could you tell him that he (and whoever else owns the rights) would be enormously popular if he published the screenplay to P&P, like he did for Emma... there are a number of people here who would sell a relative to get their hands on it!!

Hi Kate.
You're quite right about my nationality - I'm impressed.
About Andrew Davies - he's only human you know. And the English is a very civilised people. The thing is that I'm working on a thesis on Jane Austen adaptations here at the University of Oslo, and I just wrote to Andrew Davies and asked if I could come over and interview him in connection with it. He sent me a very friendly reply with his phone number and everything, and I visited him in Kenilworth where he lives in January.
I'm afraid I have to dissapoint you about the script for P&P. Andrew Davies has the strange habit of throwing away his scripts when he has finished with them. He had a good look around the house to see if he could find a copy for me, but without any luck. I also met with a producer at the BBC who promised to see if she could find one, but I have not heard anything. Andrew Davies said that Sue Birtwistle might possible have a copy, though, so if you can get a hold a her... As for publishing, I'm fairly certain that those rights belong to the BBC, so you could try to put some pressure on the right department.
