I tend to agree more with Cheryl. I think the mystery aspect is what draws her to Cold Comfort Farm. Even in these early chapters (and it's more evident later), it seems that the Starkadders are too wrapped up in themselves to give Flora much attention. She doesn't even meet Seth and Reuben until she's there for awhile, and she doesn't meet Amos until Chapter 8.
