I agree with you on this point! It's almost as if these poor Starkadders were just waiting for someone to come along and straighten them out!
] On reflection, the only example of interference which JA seems to approve of totally is Mr Darcy's action in forcing Wickham to marry Lydia. (Though maybe Marrianne's marriage to Col. Brandon might count here, too.)
I don't see Marianne's marriage to the Colonel as interference of any kind. Even though her family was all for it, she would never have done it if she were not in favor of it herself. She was quite determined to spend the rest of her life with her family, studying and learning.
