Motivation Question

Even though I have seen the movie several times, I don't recall Flora stating that her reason for going to live with a relative is to "alter his or her character and mode of living to suit my own taste."

I seem to recall that she only planned to gather material from the experience in order to write a great novel.

Does anyone remember?
