I love them! They are an absolutely hilarious idea. And it's also a wonderful parody of a lot of those turn of the century novels when men rejected by the woman they ove go off somewhere to prove their worth and return at the end to put all that at her feet. Nothing is more depressing reading.
And did anyone notice that her husband was a racketter? Maybe that relates to his demise...
