I have the same ellipses, and you are right, it is horrid stuff. ;-) Perhaps it is a continuation of the first paragraph which then frames the physical description of the farmhouse between?
This is hysterical! I had read the introduction a week before I began the book and had forgotten about the stars. I've been wondering about that! They must be intentionally bad and pretentious-- She is such a wonderfully funny writer, I LOL on every page. ;-)
