Flora=Emma?

When I saw the movie of Cold Comfort Farm, there struck me as being something very "Emma-like" about her--the way she was arranging everyone else's life to her liking while ignoring things about herself that were obvious to others, etc.--(and not just because of Kate Beckinsale!)
Now as I begin reading it, I am even more struck by some similarities between Flora and Emma. Even the opening paragraph of Cold Comfort Farm sounds like the beginning of Emma! Also, this line sounds like something that a person with Emma's personality would say:
When I have found a relative who is willing to have men, I shall take him or her in hand, and later his or her character and mode of living to suit my own taste. Then, when it pleases me, I shall marry.
Also, I guess I can see the Charles Fairford character, who is a cousin of Flora's being like a Mr. Knightley.
