] I'm surprised that you ever thought everybody liked Fanny & Edmund. ;-) There has been a lot of Fanny (& Edmund) bashing on this board, among other places!
Well, I don`t think Fanny should be bashed, cause she reminds me of myself a few years ago (maybe thatīs why it`s so hard for me to accept her, since Iīve undergone some radical changes and become tougher...whatever); I just can`t help comparing her to other JA heroines, not only EB, but Emma, Anne, Marianne and Elinor. Those are all favourites with me (Anne is the least favourite). Itīs just Fanny that I don`t like, I guess.
And Edmund is just too much like her. EB stands up for her principles, but she does it with "panache". Fanny is too much the poor little orphan. She doesn`t even have Jane Eyreīs spirit. After all JE was an orphan as well.
And the fun I was talking about was the play. They had a right to disagree, but they don`t seem like young people, thereīs nothing of that impetuous enthusiasm. they`re just too perfect. I can talk, Iīm 17, itīs hard for me to relate to them, really hard.
They have the thoughts of people who were born old. Thatīs why I can sympathize much more with the Crawfords, sp. Mary.
