Was JA's life uneventful? Everytime Tomalin says something like "the only letter from this year" etc. I keep asking myself "What was destroyed? What letters are gone?" If someone were to study your life based only on what had been written about you, would they learn about all the events that you considered most significant??
I feel like there are so many secrets that will never be known, and probably/perhaps JA would have wanted it that way.... Certainly I wouldn't want anyone analyzing the misadventures of my life (such as they have been).
