JA as a difficult person.

Another theme that is coming through at the moment, is that quite a number of JA's rellies and acquaintances didn't actually like her very much - that she was actually a hard person to be around. Also that she didn't seem to make friends where it would seem obvious to do so.
I've been thinking about really smart people I know, who are so intimidatingly penetrating that they are actually hard to be friends with. I have one person in mind in particular who I like, but of whom I am actually quite terrified, because I know she has the capacity to see when I am bluffing intellectually, or fudging an argument with rhetorical tricks. I actually avoid talking to her because she is so acute - and I therefore haven't made a friend of her, even though I admire her greatly.
Do you think that JA might have been someone like that?
