Not everyone can be enlightened, but everyone can be educated (sigh).
I enjoyed listening to Tomalin, though, even though most of the facts about JA's life she recounted I had heard elsewhere. Tomalin's a very lively speaker, and you could hear in her voice how much she enjoyed her subject. I was interested that she said Mansfield Park was her favorite book, and just generally what she had to say about it. She says she likes that the novel can support a variety of reader interpretations. I never thought to like a novel because of that.
