No! No! I'm not dissing JA... you're right, honestly, it is quite an achievement. Maybe, though, her early writing was some kind of adolescent outpouring, and she left it behind for a while when she 'grew up' - only to return to it when she had gained some maturity and realised she missed it. Someone said below that she had a very busy life at Bath - perhaps after creating her dream worlds for a while, she wanted to try out the real one?
