] Tomalin makes the brief flirtation with Tom Lefroy come to life. What I like about the way she writes here is that she endeavors to divine the significance of this in Jane's life.
I agree, this is one of the things I enjoy most about reading the book. It's fascinating to get a glimpse into possible motives for or situations of her characters.
] It is, I think, one of the things that makes her writing so compelling. Jane's misfortune in love has become our good fortune in her art.
Ooh, nicely put! But sad as well, and leaving one thankful that she had such great inner resources to direct her passions.
