In response to Theatricals, written by Marie Bernadette on March 05, 1998 at 13:50:01

] When I read about them putting on plays and theatricals I thought, "I wish people would do that now instead of watching T.V." People knew how to socialise then! They knew how to interact and that is something we are lacking today. I blame Hollywood.

Or blame the internet! : ) We're all here in cyberspace rather than theater space. (We could do theatricals in Chat Room with those little Microsoft cartoon chat figures....)

Of course, the people putting on the theatricals in JA's time were a more leisured group. They had time to read, rehearse, etc. I'm barely finding time to read Tomalin between making dinner, doing laundry, etc.

I suspect there are people doing theatricals today but they are either doing them through some organization (school, community theater, etc.) or they are immensely wealthy far too much time on their hands ; )

Just my two cents
