Extensive family

I have read other biographies of JA and always got bogged down in her extensive family tree. This is the first time I was able to keep them all straight! And I'm enjoying seeing that her characters are given family names. We spoke earlier on this board about there being a limited amount of names at that time, but when I read the name Cassandra Willoughby it really brought me up short!
It has been said that Jane only wrote about "what she knew." I wonder why she never wrote about an extended family when her own life was so occupied with cousins and far-flung relations.
