] I like to take cheap paperbacks to the beach, so the good books don't get ruined. Plus, I do get distracted, I like JA in peace.

Solution: I take with me cheap paperback versions of JA's books and leave the good versions home. ;-)

But I must confess I didn't read only JA last summer: I also read Wuthering Heights and a Finnish novel... (The reason was that we only had one copy of Persuasion, which my mother was reading, and of Mansfield Park, which was in Finnish. The translations are so bad and so old that I refuse to read them.)
