I love the lines right before it, too. "Oh, these Honeychurches! Eggs, boilers, hydrangeas, maids - of such were their lives compact." Too mundane for Mr. Vyse!

Lucy should have been clued in when Cecil didn't get along with her mother and Freddy while George hits it off with her family right away! I suppose when she noticed that, she quickly shoved it away to the back of her mind because gosh, "I love Cecil and shall be his wife shortly!"
