Here's another clue about Mr Beebe (see my post from last week) - and possibly about Cecil:

Freddie is recounting to his mother something Mr Beebe said:
"He said: 'Mr Vyse is an ideal bachelor'. I was very cute. I asked him what he meant. He said: 'Oh, he's like me - better detached."
