I can't say that I enjoyed this book until Lucinda was introduced. I thought he spent too long on Oscar's childhood. But I kept reading and I too was just sickened by the ending. It was such a shock after struggling through a very long novel I felt like "April Fools". I can believe that Oscar died but not that Lucinda lost everything to a woman who had been his wife a matter of hours. I kept thinking - there must be some legal action she could take. Then I was mad at Oscar for being such a fool and causing her so much unhappiness. But... I still want to see the movie. Does it end the same do you think?
