] What's really got me going is Henry Crawford. I can't figure out whether he really is serious about marrying Fanny. Does he really think her pretty, is he really in love with her (as close as he can be)? It's got me really guessing.
I think that he has convinced himself of her many perfections, and is perfectly decided on marrying her. Forbidden fruit, after all, is sweetest. Her refusal and manners intrigue him, and he has never met a woman he hasn't been able to fall head over heels in love with him.
