] God I hope so. I tried to read it this fal, but I just couldn't. I swear, I usually push my way through books, but Middlemarch just made me want to scream. Anyway, I'm determined to read it, so I've put it off 'til the summer, when I don't have anything else to think about. If she does start to get stronger as the book goes on, than maybe I'll find it easier to read.

Actually George Eliot really had a talent for building characters. As Middlemarch begins, Dorothea is a little weak but really gets stronger throughout the story. I love some of the other characters too, like Will Ladislaw, and Fred Vincy and Mary Garth. It's a challenging read but well worth it!
