seeking your views... the length of reads.

When this board was originally started, it was "reading along" with a read of MP on the Austenlist, where they read one chapter a week.
People thought this was a bit slow, so the speed was upped - I think to three chapters a week (?).
We read Jane Eyre over four weeks, I think. We read Possession over about four weeks, which was a gallop for such a huge book, but it was a smallish discussion, so that seemed to work - and then we had a temporary board for continuing the discussion. We spent about five weeks on P&P
We've had four weeks for NA, three of them with assigned chapters.
We've scheduled three weeks for Oscar and Lucinda.
What I want to know is, are we going too fast? On the S&S board at the moment they are having a slowish read of the diaries and screenplay of S&S. Would you be happier if we only read a couple of chapters a week and you could really pull them apart, line by line so to speak? Or are you happier having a big chunk of a book (a third or a half) to talk about each week? Should we do Austen works (or works about Austen) slowly, and other works more quickly?
Any thoughts?
