In response to The Ultimate Clueless NA adaptation., written by Carolyn B on January 19, 1998 at 11:58:42
...Catherine (Neve Campbell), an American high school exchange student, spends a semester in England. Having watched far too much Masterpiece Theater, Cathy expects the English to be polite and discuss literature in a civilized manner over tea and crumpets...
Pray, continue...
You realize, Carolyn, that someone's gonna take your brilliant idea, develop it, and retire at age 35, don't you? Speaking of which: ...Henry's father(Anthony Hopkins or Bernard Hill), is a frustrated entrepreneur who's tried everything from selling life insurance to real estate, but has never quite made it. His wife(Juliet Stevenson or [fill-in-the-blank]) divorced him several years ago because of his shady dealings - she and Henry are kindred spirits - very "literary"). Dad wants Henry to get a life instead of being a professional student - "the world's your oyster, boy!" - and thinks Catherine's just another nice airhead like his wife - until he discovers that her brother's a Harvard Business School wiz-kid, and the wheels start turning. Dad's got an idea for a Russian land-reclamation scam, and he gets Catherine's brother to use a new database program he wrote to demonstrate "their chance to write their own ticket"... I have an idea for a finish but I'm fading fast tonight - maybe tomorrow, eh?
