] - The A&E version's Googie Withers was goofy enough to play that quite well, though I'm sure there are plenty of good middle-aged actresses who could do something similar.

Yes, her or Elizabeth Spriggs (from S&S) might carry it off. I've seen Spriggs play some rather batty old biddies.

If we're having an all-star cast with Jack Nicholson, etc. what about Diana Rigg as a slightly younger and very elegant but psychotic Mrs. Allen (think "Mother Love" and Mrs. Danvers)?
