What made me think that she might rather relish the whole thing -- as you say, once it had been explained to her -- was her expressed pleasure with the institution of the Post Office.

This Board just takes the whole thing to a much larger and more instantaneous scale. (I do keep wondering how she'd feel about its being a "Republic"!)

] But I still have a delicious vision of Jane suddenly comprehending that she is worshipped by literally hordes of loose-living, atheistic (by her lights), berouged, loudmouthed, pants-wearing,working females...

Personally I'm not much like that, having a God and no rouge and being, I hope, less than loud-mouthed.

But a pretty constant pants-wearer!!

... Think how she'd like to find that at certain gatherings I have attended, Regency dancing is still a favored entertainment. Though she'd probably be horrified at the execution of same.
