I think that JA intended to portray an average 17-year-old lady perhaps as opposed what would be the average gothic heroine. She has an average beauty, average intelligence, average education. What is remarkable of her is her good nature and her innocence.
IMHO her most lovable trait is her tendency towards believing that people would act as she does, ie honestly.
