In response to Reviving my Beatles comparison of NA:P&P, written by Carolyn B on January 03, 1998 at 21:06:50
]] Perhaps I'm committing harakiri here, but in my very humble opinion, Northanger Abbey comes nowhere near JA's other works.

] Die, infidel!!!! (just joking : )
] I suspect that many of the people posting in this discussion are participating because we do like NA and don't get to discuss it that often. I've said below that NA is to P&P what the Beatles' movie Help is to Hard Day's Night (this is like one of those SAT analogies.)
] NA and Help are both very silly and frothy and LOL funny. I think Mark said below that he laughs aloud more at NA than all the other JA books combined, which I have to agree with. P&P and Hard Day's Night are both more based in realism. These two make the critics' top 10 lists, etc. (More serious comedy?? ; )
] But I'm one of those people that just enjoys the silliness sometimes. : D
yes.. I was really glad to have this group read.. and get to talk to people who've read and liked it ;) I confess I didn't always like it so well as I do now.. but my knowing it better has changed my opinion of it ;) it used to be on the bottom of my JA list.. now though, after watching the movie several times and with this rereading.. I think it ranks in the middle for me ;) with P&P and Persuasion being the highest.. and this one coming close ;) I would much rather read this book than S&S, I prefer the silly comedy ;)
