BTW, I "heard that something very shocking indeed is coming out in London..."

I just treated myself to a new copy of NA, the 1995 Penguin classics edition with accompanying commentary by an Oxbridge type, Marilyn Butler, who explains that Catherine was probably referring to actual publicity material put out by William Lane's Minerva Press which had "a network of Minerva-only libraries Lane set up, often in small shops, across the country." And all but one of the "horrid" books on Isabella's list from Miss Andrews (Ch 6) were published by Minerva Press which was "launched specifically to appeal to lower-middle-class females"

Yes, I'm one of those people who reads footnotes...

I will probably quote some of Butler's academese here because it can torment/ instruct those of us who have not yet learned to make ourselves unintelligible. ; )
