...Perhaps I'm committing harakiri here, but in my very humble opinion, Northanger Abbey comes nowhere near JA's other works. All of the others are brilliant in different ways, but while NA may be a really good parody of gothic novels it can't be compared with the others as a reading experience in its own right. Especially Pride and Prejudice is an absolutely outstanding work of fiction, of romance, story-telling, suspense, irony and human weakness. But then tastes differ, don't they? (And with JA being one of the greatest writers that ever lived, of course NA is still a very good novel...)



Sounds like a misdemeanor, at most. How do the pro critics rate NA vs. the others? Does anyone have any good sources handy?
