In response to Is Tilney's age a factor?, written by Linda Ann on January 02, 1998 at 19:27:36

] ] So how did he end up with a sweetheart like Catherine? Aren't the nice guys supposed to wind up stuck with Isabellas?

] Perhaps Tilney's age is a clue to his freedom or 'strangeness'. Most of JA's good guys seem to be the mature fellow in the flannel vest - not a 25-year-old. But perhaps Catherine is a little too unformed (or uninformed?) to interest a Knightley or a Brandon. I have to admit when Tilney assumes a 'simpering expression' and does the expected courtesies of asking Catherine how she enjoys Bath, I have to agree while I laugh, "why are you so strange?"

That might be... But I would hate to have him ever settle down... I still wonder if JA patterned him after her equally exuberant and interesting brothers...Sorry about "clogging up a thread" Is that a really BAD thing? I would love to know! I'd hate to think that I was really screwing up the system...
