Not to worry about NA being less polished--you know what happened with it, right? It was submitted for publication, held unpublished for many years and only much later, when her brother bought back the copyright did she have it in her hands to work with. I think by that time it was too dated for her to rework it into the shape she would have liked. But as you say, it is still a good read and has quite a number of excellent lines and characterizations, plus a sprightly hero with a gentler wit than many of her other leading men.
