In response to More men love NA?, written by Haley on January 02, 1998 at 15:05:58
...so to all you "men" out there, what is your favorite JA novel, and why? ;)
I don't know if or why NA should be liked by more men. I think the men who like Austen like her for a lot of the same reasons women do. My favorite novel: Emma, because it's the most crisp and sophisticated expose of human nature. I think it takes a very real and dangerous emotional journey and uses it like a mirror to help us laugh at our most vulnerable selves. Following Emma - roughly in order and all neck-in-neck are: Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, and Sense and Sensibility. (I haven't read Mansfield Park yet). But they're all delicious!
