Henry=clergyman

I have a few questions...
We know that Henry is a clergyman... but in the movie they somewhat confuse me when they mention his "owning his own estate" so Q#1. Is this only in the movie or is this also in the book? Q#2. If it is in the book.. did pastors have their own estate ever? it seems like in every other JA novel they are always offered a living ON an estate, not given there own... so I am very confused! I would appreciate any help please ;)
