In response to Have you read CRANFORD, by Mrs Gaskell? NFM, written by Stolzi on December 27, 1997 at 03:27:57

I have just re read Cranford after 20 years, and what a lovely little book! Back to Gaskell with a vengeance!

The Greer Garson film version of P&P usually attracts a lot of criticism ( and this is serendipity here) but there's a 1930s Katharine Hepburn film of Barrie's Quality Street which is very close to Austen in feel - a sort of cinematic comparison of Georgette Heyer to Austen. It's worth trying to find it, Nora & Stolzi.
