new adaptation

I read or heard somewhere that a new adaptation is in the works with Amanda Root as Fanny. Someone at the Persuasion board, where I asked about this, suggested that Root is too old. I agree. But she's a fabulous actress; she might be able to make it work.
It's hard to like the novel, I think. Equally difficult to like Fanny. Of Austin's novels with the "darker vision," I like Persuasion best. Although obviously "Mansfield Park" contains some searing social criticism.
