So you think that the author's opinion is intruding?--That Mrs. Weston, etc. were unhappy about the fact of the engagement, though the people were not bad choices; and Edward's family were upset about his choice. Maybe JA had to show some moral outrage in Emma, but there was enough already in S&S to not belabor the point.
